Getting Back on the Field

From Our President, Lea Del Rosario:

We have permission/permits to hold practices at Phelps Lane. Baseball and softball coordinators and team managers are currently reaching out to all families to inquire about interest in playing during the summer. Our hope is to play games beginning in late July, but we are still coordinating internally and with the town. If we are able to have a “season,” it may be modified in some ways from the regular spring schedule. We also may have to realign teams based on participation. Attached are our health & safety guidelines for practices. Everyone is asked to please cooperate with the guidelines so that we can continue to get the kids and our volunteers back out on the field safely.

We understand that getting back to play may not be a possibility for everyone. If we have a season and your child is not able to participate, you will be credited for Spring 2021 registration. Any questions, please contact the board at our Contact Us Form.

Newsday Sponsored “Take Me Out To The Ball Game” Singing Contest

NBYL Families:

Newsday is sponsoring a contest to feature kids from around the island in a commercial, singing “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.” District 34 is asking for videos submissions of our little leaguers singing “Take me Out to the Ballgame” from start to finish.

Newsday’s chosen videos will then be edited together into one really nice island-wide medley to mark the beginning of the major league baseball season (hopefully in a few weeks).

Each video should just be ONE kid at a time, NOT teams. The only exception might be if there are multiple kids in the same household.

The kids should have FUN with it, maybe yell “play ball!” at the end. And we’re hoping the kids can be dressed in their little league gear, showing their local pride (and not Mets or Yankees stuff, as we’d likely run into copyright issues there). But regular clothes (with no brands showing) are fine too.

If you’re interested, please send your videos and the signed minor release form (here) to nbyl@nbyl.com no later than this Saturday, June 20. We will forward all submissions.

Latest Update On Covid-19 For May 20th

I hope that this finds you safe and well. The last couple of months have been truly unprecedented, but through it all we have seen the strength and support of our community really shine. Thank you to everyone for your patience and support as well.

Resumption of any activities is still based on federal, state and local guidance. The NBYL is continuing to abide by the state stay-at-home order. Additionally, the Town of Babylon has suspended all park permits through August 1, 2020. This means there can be no league or team organized activity of any kinds at any of the town fields.
