Is It Work, Or Is It Really A Fun Time, Disguised As Work?

Ok, you have to admit that working the NBYL concession stand isn’t exactly what you would call “strenuous”. As a matter of fact, it can be a lot of fun. Many of us don’t get a lot of time to relax and chit-chat with our friends and neighbors with our busy schedules, and working the concession stand is a chance to hang out, hand out some drinks and hot dogs, and shoot the breeze.

So don’t think of “working” in concession, it’s actually a break from routine, a social event, a chance to meet and talk to the board members (as they are CONSTANTLY in the concession stand), and generally enjoy helping the league raise some money, and keep the players well hydrated.

So if you see the stand is undermanned, ask if they can use a hand. Could be the most fun “work” you’ve had this week!

Be Careful Buying Baseball Bats On Sale…

There has been a major rule change for 2018 regarding bats for Baseball Little League use (Softball bats are NOT affected by this rule change). ALL LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL BATS (AT ALL LEVELS) MUST HAVE THE USA BASEBALL EMBLEM ON THE BAT OR IT CAN NOT BE USED. The league will provide a couple of bats for each team and we will purchase extra bats if players or parents want to buy from us when we receive them (scheduled for January).

If you have already purchased a bat, there is a program to get the bat approved, and receive a USA Baseball sticker, but be advised that many bats do not meet the new standard. Many of these bats may be on deep discount, with no indication that they will not be legal for league play, come the 2018 season.

The logo looks like this, and it may be in different colors:

The NBYL will be posting links to official bat suppliers and discount offers, so watch the NBYL.com website for further info.
